Greetings metalheads of the world! Welcome again from the deepest darkest metal where true talents became legends. I am proud to get this band interviewed. This band is the next big thing in death metal land. Yes, we’re talking about Thy Final Pain from Germany. ‘Of Life And Death’ was released in May 2009, and you know what? This guys fuckin RULE!! Alrite let’s talk about their latest album. TFK is simply described as the best old school roots of death metal. The creator of the band, guitarist Simon Dorn and bass player Marc Jüttner, who met for the first time during a rehearsal session for a concert of the death metal band Debauchery where they played in 2006/07.
‘Of life and Death’ is an impressive album. This album consisted of 11 Brutalpaddlingjugging tracks where there are crushing guitar riffs, heavy fast pounding drums & deep Death growls. They combine technical intricate parts with brutal parts. With fuckin cool grooves & paddling sound through their music as well. You just can’t help yourself bangin your head even when you’re listening it in your mp3 while waiting for your bus hehe! If your a fan of the old school Sweden Death Metal scenes then your gonna love these guys. This is a great release that would make any Death Metal collection proud!
Let me introduce you guys to Marc Jüttner who played bass for the band.
Redbaron: Hi Marc.. Thank you for taking time off for this interview..Thy Final Pain is the next big thing described by MetalStorm. Tell us who unleashed Thy Final Pain? A little history of the band.
Marc: Well, we started Thy Final Pain in early 2007 - we wanted to play our really _own_ music instead of simply playing along in several bands, and we finally did it. Simon and I met for the first time during some rehearsal sessions for the German death metal band Debauchery where we both played for a couple of gigs. It soon became clear that together we
could start our very own band, without any compromises in working and
thinking. We have then started to write our first songs - "My
Temptation" was the first we've ever recorded and until today, it is one of our favourite songs :). in winter 2007 we went into studio and recorded our first album "Epitaph", which was released in march 2008.
The magazines surprisingly liked it very much, what we had never thought
of...We had never thought of playing live with Thy Final Pain, but in spring 2008 we decided to form a live band and entered the stages – people liked it, and so we went on, played some really cool underground concerts and had a lot of fun. In late 2008 we signed our record deal with STF records, where we released "...Of Life And Death" in May 2009.
Redbaron: Finally a band that best described Death Metal suitably…what do you think of Death Metal of today? Are they getting to fast or are we getting old?
Marc: I think this is a matter of what we expect today - death metal sound became quite modern, highly compressed and very loud, which leaves a hole between traditional death metal, which we listened to in the late 80s until the 90s, and the modern metal that is brought to our ears today. Today, we no longer have _the_ death metal but rather many
different characteristics, from Goteburg style with some slightly melodic influences to brutal death metal from Southern Germany or France... I really like both - it's great that there is such a variety in sound and speed so that anybody can choose what he likes best.
Redbaron: Thy Final Pain is massive rhythmic death metal, sounds is suitable for old death metal fans.. Do u intend to stay this way?
Marc: I think Thy Final Pain will not leave their roots with the next
albums :)...
Redbaron: Your band has only been around for a few years, but you’re hugely popular. Do you have female fans throwing panties at your gigs? Hehe seriously..Other than Deutschland where have you toured?
Marc: No, female fans don't throw their panties at our gigs. We've played some in Austria, Suisse and the Netherlands and hope to tour through Europe within the next year.
Redbaron: What other German death metal bands you recommended? Give us 5 of them
Marc: That's really difficult - there is Defloration, L'Estard, ...
Redbaron: Any plans to tour Asia? Perhaps Singapore?
Marc: No, unfortunately no plans at present.
Redbaron: Hellraiser Metal Concert and Metal @ Rockdomizil Amberg is around the corner…tell us more about that concert?
Marc: Hellraiser concert is past now; it was a great show together with Vomitory and Malevolent Creation. Wito from Hellraiser invited us to join the show and we enjoyed it. I think the next show in Amberg will be as great as any other shows - we really enjoy playing live and we give our best for our fans!
Redbaron: How many cartons of beers you need to make one song? Hehe who wrote the songs and the lyrics?
Marc: Hopefully you're not too disappointed... I must confess that we don't drink beer at our rehearsal sessions and during our songwriting sessions - we rather drink milk and coffee :). Most of the songs are written by Simon who is a great riff-machine - in my opinion. :) But the overall number of songs was written by Simon and me together.
Redbaron: I prefer soya bean drink..
Redbaron: When did you guys get signed to STF records?
Marc: We've signed the deal around December 2008.
Redbaron: Do you have hobbies? Other than making music and touring?
Marc: If you make music there's not much time for other hobbies...
Redbaron: Are you guys into politics? Tells us what you hate?
Marc: No politics, thanks :). But there's enough I hate :) - too much to mention here...
Redbaron: What first got you into music personally? Any specific band or person that made you wants to be a musician?
Marc: In late 1980s I really adored Cliff Burton from Metallica – I always wanted to play like he did and that's why I became a bass player...
Redbaron: Cliff does inspire players to do wonders.. A great loss..
Redbaron: Thanks a million for this intervierw..anything to add for my readers?
Marc: Yeah! Rock on in Singapore and thank you for the interview :). Visit our website and sign our guestbook!
